The Manufactures nationales has set up a Research and Innovation Department, in which the Sustainable Practices Laboratory is being developed. Several areas of applied research will be implemented. One of these involves support for the development and promotion of eco-responsible materials. These materials tend towards the same ideal of respect for the environment, and have several characteristics: they are renewable, biodegradable or recyclable, and non-toxic.
This "Rencontre" is an opportunity to present and better understand the issues surrounding these materials, which are both innovative and at the heart of the challenges facing the craft industry.

On the program for this cycle: color.

Without color, the decorative arts would not be a complete art: color is the soul and substance of the arts. And ever since Jehan Gobelin set up shop on the banks of the Bièvre at the end of the Middle Ages, the Mobilier National has been the institution where color takes on a special tone, at the heart of its textile creations and collections. This cycle takes stock of the latest research and achievements in the use of color in the arts and crafts.
